“Hi, Dr. Joe! Thanks for checking in! I appreciate the fact that, although I am not local to your practice, you follow up with me regularly to monitor my progress and offer helpful, informed feedback.
Here are the responses to your Medical Weight Loss progress questions.
How have you been feeling?
I have been feeling great! I don’t feel hungry for most of the week. As I get closer to my next scheduled shot (the day before), I feel a little hungry, with slight tummy gurgling and tiny hunger pangs. Usually, an Ensure Original shake settles it, and then I go about my regular eating routine.
A typical daily eating routine looks like this:
I have been going to the gym 3-4 days per week and doing both cardio (a brisk 3-mile walk on the treadmill) and strength training (light weights on cable machines—alternating days between upper body and lower body).
Usually, after a workout, I tend to feel a little shaky and need to eat something or have a shake. My overall mood has been great, and I like the comments from others about my weight loss! When I started the program, I had some feelings of low sugar in the head and was a little sweaty and pale in the face, but that seemed to go away with a light meal. Now that I have a pretty good routine, I don’t feel those at all anymore.
What have you been learning about yourself and your body through this journey?
I have mainly learned that I was way overeating, not exercising enough, and using food to manage stress. Your Premier Medical Weight Loss program has given me a much-needed kickstart to refocus on my health and get into a healthy routine of balanced eating and working out.
The exercise has helped me manage stress a lot. Not feeling like I need to run to food when stressed has also been excellent! Before starting the Premier Medical Weight Loss program, I didn’t recognize the person in the mirror. But over these past five weeks, I have seen positive changes in my body, and I am excited to start to see myself coming back!
Because the quantity of your food intake has significantly reduced, how have you modified the QUALITY of your dietary intake?
I have definitely reduced the quantity of food I consume; I have discovered that I don’t require more than 1500-2000 calories a day! Now that I have reduced the portion sizes and the number of times I eat daily, I have stopped buying junk food and eating out at fast food restaurants. I have been going to the grocery store to buy fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, plain, non-fat Greek yogurt, oatmeal, chicken breasts, cans of tuna, salmon filets, fat-free cottage cheese, and Ensure Original shakes. I have noticed that a small portion of high-quality food satisfies me, and I have so much more energy than before!
How would you rate your response to the new 75-unit dose?
I would rate my response to the higher 75-unit dose very well. I have been feeling great at the 75-unit level. I took my first 75-unit dose last Wednesday, 2/28/24 (a day earlier than scheduled) because I was starting to feel hungry that morning.
The initial shot took effect quickly (within an hour or so), and I no longer felt hungry. I was looking to see if this 75-unit dose would bring me back to seven-day intervals or if I would feel like I needed the next dose within six days.
I started to feel a little hungry this morning, day six, but I wanted to see if it got any worse. I had a light breakfast and a shake, and that seemed to take care of the hunger sensations, with no additional hunger throughout the day. I had a light lunch and dinner (6 p.m.) and felt fine. As I write this at 9:30 p.m., I feel a little hungry. I will take my next 75-unit dose tomorrow morning and update you.
Are you experiencing any new side effects?
I have not felt any side effects other than the low sugar, sweaty, pale face in the beginning five weeks ago. Occasionally, I feel like I may be a little constipated, but then I have a bowel movement and feel fine. (Sometimes, I take Milk of Magnesia if needed.)
On the very positive side, I have seen my blood pressure decrease to a healthier reading, and I am excited to see that! I am unsure if it is because I am eating better, exercising, and more effectively managing stress or if it has something to do with tirzepatide or B12! The other morning, my blood pressure was 118/80 (pulse 73). Before starting Premier Medical Weight Loss, my blood pressure readings were in the mid-130s to140s over 85-95, so I am experiencing a significant improvement in my blood pressure already!
What is your current weight?
My weigh-in this morning was 255.9 pounds, and I am thrilled with the progress. Since the start of the program, I have lost 15.1 pounds! That’s roughly 2.5 pounds lost per week on average!
Dose (50)/Week 1 weigh-in: 271.0 lbs. (Thursday, February 1, 2024)
Dose (50)/Week 2 check-in: 263.2 lbs. (-7.8 lbs.)
Dose (50)/Week 3 check-in: 261.0 lbs. (-2.2 lbs.)
Dose (50)/Week 4 check-in: 259.9 lbs. (-1.1 lbs.) (During our skiing vacation week.)
Dose (75)/Week 5 check-in: 257.6 lbs. (-2.3 lbs.)
I am very thankful for your help and guidance along this journey! Thank you!
I’ll text you an update tomorrow morning after I take dose six and weigh in. Have a great night!”
